OUR Purpose
Here at the Farmington Hills Church of God we have committed to a three part vision as a church centered around growing deeper, getting closer, and reaching wider as our driving purpose.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.” Luke 4:18-19 (ESV)

GROW DEEPER...
-
in our understanding of who God is, His plan for our lives, and how we can become more and more like Jesus Christ.
-
“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love.” Ephesians 3:17 (ESV)

GET CLOSER...
-
by being part of a community of people who encourage each other, build one another up in our walk of faith, and serve one another and the world together.
-
“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.” John 13:34-35 (ESV)

REACH WIDER...
-
by sharing the Good News—the surprising message of God’s grace—and loving our community in a way that matters.
-
“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’” Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
OUR BELIEFS
We are dedicated to fostering an open, warm, and welcoming atmosphere here at the Farmington Hills Church of God. We are a community church. We believe that everyone, everywhere who loves God and believes in Jesus Christ is a part of God's Church. New life and hope for every situation through Jesus Christ is the central focus of our message. The Bible is our source of authority.
we Believe:
-
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the final authority for Christian faith and living.
-
God exists eternally in three persons -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- and has revealed Himself to be perfect in love, righteous in all His ways and Creator of all things.
-
Jesus Christ is God's eternal Son; as true God and true man, He was born of a virgin, taught people how to live through His sinless life, was crucified as a sacrifice for our sins, arose bodily from the dead, was seen by over five hundred persons, and returned to heaven to prepare a place for us.
-
Men and Women were created in God's image, were tempted by Satan and rebelled against God. Through repentance and personal faith in Jesus Christ we are forgiven our sins, reborn by the Holy Spirit and we become the children of God.
-
The distribution of gifts by the Holy Spirit for edification of the body of Christ is not determined by gender. God has poured out his Spirit on all people, and both sons and daughters will teach and shepherd the flock.
-
The Holy Spirit is God at work, persuading us to repent of our sins and to confess Jesus Christ as Lord. He lives in us, teaches us, enables us to live godly lives and gifts us for ministry.
-
The Church is the living body of Christ on earth. Jesus Christ is the head and source of life for the church. The church is composed of those who have received Him as Savior and Lord. The church exists to glorify God by worshipping Him and by communicating Christ to the world and making disciples.
-
Jesus Christ will return to judge the world and to take His children to their eternal home in heaven. This is the hope of the church and her encouragement for ministry.
WE STAND FOr AlL
WE DECLARE:
At Farmington Hills Church of God, we condemn all forms of racism, racial inequality, and injustice. We believe that racism is not compatible with being a Christ-follower. It is a sin!
The prophet Micah called out God’s people twenty-eight hundred years ago when he said,
“O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” ~Micah 6:8
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “the time is always right to do what’s right.”
We, the Christ-followers at FHCoG, are committed to love in a way that matters by listening, learning, speaking graciously and being an advocate for others. Together we will work to help create lasting change in our community through the love of Jesus Christ.
